Are there any special requirements to install the webcams with RED5?
Yes, the WebCams Plug-in is compatible with the Red 5 Open Source Servers Version 0.7.0.* (and above). Please note that on lesser versions the Directory maybe in a different location. For the latest details visit Red5 website (http://osflash.org/red5).

The WebCam Plug-in is installed correctly but we still can not see the cams.
This is normally down to your server not having the Ports open for the Red5(Default is 1935)

Or this can also be caused by not creating the correct Directorys and /or the Files inside these Directorys.

Or NOT Restarting the Red5 Server after creating the Directorys.

We have supplied a small Flash test App so you can test the default ports to your server... http://www.red5flashhosting.com/tools/port_tester

What is this WEB-INF Directory?
This is the default directory that Red5 looks in to find its configuration files, web.xml, red5-web.xml, red5-web.properties. These files contain instructions on how the Red5 Server uses our WebCams Plug-in.

I have a problem with Red5 Server can you help?
We always recommend that you check out the Red5 Website(http://osflash.org/red5) first, their forums normal contain the answer to common Red5 Issues. If this does not help, we will try and assist you to the best of our knowledge, on the Red5 server.

Do you install Red5, FMS or Wowser servers?
No, we do not currently install Red5, FMS or Wowser servers at this point in time, although we are looking into this as a future option.

Can you host the WebCams if required?
Yes, we can host WebCams via our dedicated Server, you can purchase this option in the Hosting area of our site.

Will your Webcam Plug-in work with Wowza Servers?
Yes, our Webcam Plug-in does work on Wowza Servers.

1) You need to create a prochatrooms folder in the wowza''s application and conf folders.
2) In the conf folder, you need to create a application.xml file which holds basic information on how the Webcam Plug-in is to work. If you have knowledge on Wowza server this is easly setup but can requested from us via our client area.

How do i use my webcam in the chat room?
To allow chat room users to view your webcam, click the webcam image above the userlist where its says 'Click Here To Start Webcam'. The chat room will then attempt to load your webcam and if successful, a green icon will appear next to your name in the userlist to show other users you are broadcasting your webcam.

How do i view webcams in the chat room?
To view a users webcam in the Pro Chat Rooms, simply click on the user you wish to view in the userlist and you will see an options menu. Click the link ''View Webcam'' to load the users webcam in the viewing windows located below the main chat screen. When viewing a users webcam, a red icon will appear in the userlist to inform the webcam broadcaster who is viewing their webcam.

I see a set of flashing keys on the webcam.
Open the file 'webcams/preferences.xml' and check you have entered your domain name correctly. You may need to remove the 'www. from the domain name depending on your settings.

A loading image continuously rotates in the webcam window.
You have incorrectly configured your RED5, FMS or Wowser server and/or entered the wrong RTMP address in the file 'webcams/preferences.xml'.

I have a 'White Screen', when trying to show my WebCam.
Seeing a 'White Screen' when trying to load your webcam can be caused by a few reasons.

1) Incorrect data (or type error) in your preferences.xml file.

<< ?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
< preferances>
< Pref Data = "www.some_site.com" />
< Pref Data = "rtmp://some_flash_hosting_site/www_some_site_com" />
< /preferances>

Notice the DOUBLE Angle bracket at the beginning of this file, it is this sort of typo error that can causes issues. So rule of thumb is to check and double check your preferences.xml file.

2) You may need to clear your Flash Player cache. You can do this by visiting the Macromedia website and using the Flash Player Manager. When the Flash Player Manager has loaded, click the 'Website Storage Settings Panel' link (located in the menu on the left of the web page) then click the button labelled 'Delete All Sites'.
